January 8, 1965 – June 24, 2023
On Monday, June 24, 2023, Will Henry Campbell, Jr. of 1113 Beazley, Petersburg, VA, made a quiet transition to rest for eternity in his heavenly home. Billy, as he was called by all who knew him, was born on January 8, 1965, to the late Will H. Campbell Sr. and Ruth McDougald Campbell. He was preceded in death by his aunts and uncles, Julia M. Baskerville (Joseph Sr.), Mabel M. Shepard (James) and Wilhelmenia Bowe (Stanley); and his cousins, Roger Shepard and Steven Yeisley.
Mr. Campbell graduated from Petersburg High School in 1985. Upon graduation, he relocated to Maryland to seek employment with Giant Food Store where he worked for over thirty years. When his cousin and mother became ill, he relocated to Petersburg to be their caregiver. He also sought employment at Food Lion in Ettrick, VA, until he became ill.
Billy spent his spare time watching his favorites teams, the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders), Los Angeles Lakers and most recently, the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed going to the movies, collecting a vast number of videos, albums, comic books, and team memorabilia.
Billy attended Zion Baptist Church at an early age where he was involved as a Boy Scout and also attended Sunday School.
Billy leaves to cherish his memory: cousins, Joseph Baskerville, Jr. (Ella Nadine) of Petersburg, VA, and Valerie Yeisley (Richard) of Maryland; second cousins, Joe Baskerville III and Dawn Howard of Virginia, Gary Yeisley, and Karen Quispe (Eddie) of Maryland; third cousins, Caroline, Vanessa, Anthony Quispe, Nathan and Connor Yeisley of Maryland and René Howard of Prince Geroge, VA; god-sister, Patricia Morris of California; his friends, Juanita Bowles and Carmecita Stewart; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Andrew J. White, Sr., eulogist, the Rev. Edward L. Fox III, officiating. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
