August 5, 1957 – July 8, 2023

Vivian Yvonne Porter was born on August 5, 1973, in Washington, DC to the late Reuben and Cora Mackey. On Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 4:30 A.M., Vivian answered God’s sweet whisper and she was released from pain and suffering. Vivian received her education at a younger schooled age from attending schools in Washington, DC and then her family relocated to Capitol Heights, MD where she attended Suitland High School.
Vivian was always a hard and dedicated worker. Vivian was employed in the 90’s at Georgetown Hospital where she enjoyed working in the Medical Records Department. She was always a sharp dresser when she dressed up and her make-up was always beautiful. Vivian migrated through jobs and seemed to love doing customer service. Her last employment was at IHOP in Richmond, VA which she loved working at until she couldn’t work anymore due to health issues.
Vivian was always welcoming to whomever she met. She never met a stranger and was affectionately called, Momma Viv or V by all who met her. She had such a gentle spirit, warmness, and beautiful personality about her.
Vivian was in a long relationship with her significant other Melissa “Pumpkin” Moore who she loved so much and enjoyed telling everyone about her. If you truly knew Vivian you knew she loved the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. If she could leave those decorations up she would all-year long.
Before Vivian’s health started declining, she enjoyed riding to Eastern Shore to visit Pumpkin’s parents. Alfonso and Annie Cotto who she called Mom and Dad. Any outing she could go on she was excited to ride shotgun and tell you how to drive.
Vivian was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Grandma and Nana. She earned her name as Momma V from most who adopted her after the first encounter with her.
Vivian was preceded in death by her father, Reuben Charles Mackey; mother, Cora Lee Mackey; brother-in-law, Gerald Floyd (Reubey); granddaughter, Monet Lawrynn Williams (Tarita); and her niece, Teya Marie Peeples.
Vivian leaves to cherish her precious memories to her six children, Tarita Spencer, Lerenzo Johnson (Lizelle), Lisa Harrod, Vivian Nicole Porter (Ronald), Jasmine Porter and Yvette Porter. She also had three bonus children that she loved dearly, Kendrell Moore, Janeqia Moore and Nysheim Moore; grandchildren, Lafayette Matthews, Latesha Matthews, Michele Boykin, Anthony Boykin, Deonte Spencer, Deonnay Spencer, Te’Von Johnson, Ty’Juan Johnson, Tnaya Johnson, Jaden Tarpley, Rachel Dickerson, Deonte Spencer, Deonnay Spencer, Monte Williams Jr., Daunte Williams, Lataisa Graham, Lanaisa Graham, D’arryl Graham, Zoe’’ Kenney and Nyla Porter; twenty-two great grandchildren, Messiah Matthews, Zylen Moore, Elijah Johnson, Molly Boone, Zena Ortiz-Matthews, Knox Boone, Amir Spencer, Dakota Matthews, Phai’on Matthews, Ja’Kyiah Williams, Jeremiah Williams, Logan Ross, London Worthem, Darrel Thompson, Ameera Moore, Rysir Warren, Lyric Warren, Kemyia Moore, Ke’zaih Moore, Kareem Moore, Kalea Moore and Kendrell Moore, Jr.; one sister, Reubey Lee Floyd; niece, Jerrell Height; god sister, Gayle Smith-Thompson; sister friends, Denise Shipp and Donna Shipp-Harris; her awesome caretakers, Elaine Simms along with “Pumpkin”, Hospice of Virginia Nurse Joseph Karakasians, and Social Worker Raki Bostic; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
