Virginia Mae Lacy Moody, 79, of Petersburg, VA, entered eternal life on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Tyler’s Retreat at Iron Bridge in Chester, VA, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Petersburg, VA on June 12, 1943, to the late Lawrence and Hattie Lacy. She was the granddaughter of the late Mattie Matthews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances L. Dickerson (Kenneth) and Irene L. Bailey; son-in-law, Malcolm Bolling (or Percell, as she would call him); and stepsister, Dawn Ruffin.

She worked at Brown & Williams Tobacco Company and retired from Bellwood after years of dedicated service. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, listening to music, playing cards and  bingo. Virginia loved dancing and was the Queen of the Hucklebuck dance.

Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. To cherish her memories, Virginia leaves her husband, Charlie Moody; two daughters, Vicki Bolling and Jennsye Goodson (Thaddis); son, James “JT” Greene; stepson, Charlie Moody; six grandchildren, L. Donell Powell, LaToya B. Hairston (Demetrus), Tyra Bolling, Lauryn Powell, Ta’Kierra Edmonds, Jalen Cherry and a bonus granddaughter, Denae Powell; five great grandchildren, Lyric Powell, Lawrence “DJ” Powell, Demetrus Hairston, Jr., Layla Hairston and Au’vee Lewis; one sister, Marion Clarke (Melvin), brother-in-law, Raymond Bailey; stepsister, Carol Wansley; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Carr; one cousin, Charlette Jackson, a host of nieces, nephews, and devoted friend and caregiver, Sharon Simmons.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., eulogist.
