January 31, 1940 – January 14, 2023

In the early morning of Saturday, January 14, 2023, God peacefully and quietly called our beloved father, Theodoa Thomas home to eternal rest. He was born on January 31, 1940, to the late Luther and Luetenia Thomas. He was a native of Surry County, VA. After losing his wife of 10 years, he resided with his daughter and son-in-law in Prince George, VA.

Along with his parents, Theodoa was preceded in death by  his wife, Deloris Thomas; grandson, Marcus Perry; brothers, Winfield Thomas, Raymond Thomas, Horace Thomas and John Thomas; and his sister, Rosa Thomas.

Theodoa was educated in the Surry County Public School System. He was baptized at an early age and later joined Lebanon Baptist Church, Disputanta, VA where he served on the usher board. He also enjoyed watching his favorite religious program on TV, Peter Popoff Ministries.

Theodoa was a jack of all trades. He worked at the Newport News Shipyard for many years. Thereafter, he decided to learn how to drive 18-wheelers under  Dick Burrow, Est., Prince George, VA. Later, he went on to the Virginia Department of Transportation where he worked until he retired. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, painting and jiving around with his friends.

Theodoa leaves to cherish his memories his two sisters, Helen Thomas and Mildred Thomas of Washington, DC; children, devoted daughter, Hope Brown and devoted son-in-law, David Brown of Prince George, VA, Amanda Hicks (Will) of Prince George, VA, Martin Thomas (Rose) and Michael Thomas (devoted daughter-in-law Sharisa) both of Hopewell, VA and Theoda Thomas (Llissi) of Florida; eight grandchildren, two devoted Tysheena Williams and Dasani Williams both of Hopewell, VA; ten great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Pettaway (Robert), Sadie Williams, Willie Williams (Ernestine), Donald Williams (Angelia), Adam Williams (Barbara), Norman Williams (Gertrude) and Nathaniel Williams (Tonya) all of Hopewell, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews who he adored, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to his devoted caregiver, Tijuana Hill and the Staff of Crater Hospice of Petersburg, VA.
