Susie Bell Talley, affectionately known as “Bigmomma”, was born on June 14, 1930, to the late James Earl and Susie Talley. The youngest of six, Susie Bell was known for putting on a show when her father was near, showing who the true baby and boss of the family was.
Susie Bell was educated in Dinwiddie County, where she welcomed her first born son, Robert Talley. In 1953, Susie Bell left Dinwiddie County and moved to Corona in Queens, NY, to pursue her career as a homemaker. While on her live-in job she met and fell in love with Robert Davis and from this union two children were born, Winston and Lionell Davis.
Susie Bell and her family moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she worked at Williams Cleaners for 37 years. After retiring in 2001, she then became employed as a bus aid for Belair Transportation as well as on the Dot Transportation until she retired for good in 2015.
Susie Bell spent the rest of her life dedicated to her family, one way she showed her love was through her numerous famous meals. You could count on Susie Bell to make a spread for every holiday, for all to enjoy. She had a love for Monday night Raw Wrestling, everyone knew if you dared to call during Wrestling, you were going to be rushed off the phone.
Susie Bell gained her wings on July 12, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Susie bell was predeceased by her husband, Robert Davis; her two sons, Robert Talley and Winston Davis; parents, James and Susie Talley; five siblings, Frank, Lucy, Dorthy, Floyd, and Virgie; her best friend/sister, Audrey Whitehead; and her bonus daughter, Barbara Anne Davis.
Susie Bell leaves to cherish her memories: her baby boy, Lionell Davis (Cynthia); daughter, Ruby Davis; the daughter she never had, Candace Huguenin; a beloved dog, Cash; grandchildren, Amanda, Karen, and Christopher Talley (Christiana), Sharifah Fuller (George), Cryshedia (Rashawn) and Waleeyah Davis (Scott); great grandchildren, Christiana, Crystal, Christopher, Marcus, Taheerah, Shakila, Qua’eesa, Wadaijah, Daiyon, Nasim, Christina, Skye, Ethan and Faith, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Anderson, eulogist.
