January 15, 1991 – May 31, 2023

With deep sorrow, we share news of the passing of Sidney B. Uzoh on May 31, 2023, at the age of 32. Despite his brief time with us, Sidney’s life was filled with a passion for seeking knowledge and unwavering love from those around him.
Sidney was born on January 15, 1991, in Petersburg, VA. A seeker of knowledge, Sidney loved debating. He always opened his mind to learn new things. The rare times he watched TV, it was consistently tuned to the History channel. Towards the end of his life, Sidney took to learning about many other faiths, including Rastafarianism, which he took a deep interest in.
Most of all, Sidney had a knack for making those around him laugh. He would often make impressions to invoke a smile in hopes of getting someone to be happy. Sidney was a kindred spirit who children naturally warmed to, evidenced by the unique relationships he established with his many nieces and nephews as children.
Sidney was preceded in passing by his father, Kenneth Uzoh; grandparents, Betty and Thomas Lofton; and his uncle, Ricardo Lofton.
He will be deeply missed by his loving mother, Renee Richardson; brothers, Jayson Lofton (Amanda), Maccre Lofton (Mekelle) and Tonye Lofton (Zaida), loving sister, Amanda Uzoh-Chavis (Montavis); adored nieces, Michelle, Tiana, Morgan, Elena and Carmen; nephews, Tayden, Tristan and Alexander; uncles, Vincent Lofton and Thomas Lofton, Jr.; aunts, Janice Kelley and Terrie Blake; family members, Ann Pitts and Frank Shaw; surrogate brothers, Jimmy, Benjamin and Todd; his best friend, Brittany; and many cousins and friends who also mourn his untimely departure.
His compassionate spirit, smile and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. Sidney taught us to love unconditionally and for that, we are eternally grateful.
His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had a hand in caring for Sidney. His time with us was far too short, but the impact he left on our lives is immeasurable, and he will forever remain in our hearts.
