SGM (Ret) Malcolm L. Holmes, 75, of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away suddenly on July 6, 2022. He was the son of the late Robert P. Holmes and Christine Holmes of Haverhill, Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert P. Holmes, Jr. Malcolm is survived by his sons, Malcolm L. Holmes, Jr., Brent C. Holmes and Bryan Gergas; grandchildren, Derrick I. Holmes, Shaylie A. Holmes, and Cierra N. Holmes; great grandchildren, King Jason Holmes and Alessia Moon Demaio; daughter-in-law, Kara L. Holmes; brother, George E. Holmes and sister-in-law, Jenny Holmes from Daleville, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Malcolm is also survived by his loving four-legged companion, Sable.
Malcolm served honorably in the United States Army for twenty-eight years, traveling all over the world during his service. He ascended to the highest rank that a Non-Commissioned Officer can receive, which Sergeant Major. During his service to his country, he was bestowed multiple Purple Hearts, and the Bronze Star with Valor. After his esteemed military career, he became a successful businessman in the area of real estate.
Viewing for Mr. Holmes will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 15, 2022 at the funeral establishment. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, VA.
