Sean Patrick Higgins, 67, of Colonial Heights passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, after a four-year battle with cancer.

     He was an avid adventurer who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, and hunting. He also loved history and traveling to historical sites, particularly Civil War battlefields. After spending most of his career as a sales manager, he achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a Park Ranger. He served as a Ranger for the National Park Service at the Grand Tetons in Wyoming and on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina, and then at several sites in Richmond, Virginia including Richmond National Battlefield and the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site, until he became ill.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dolores; his sister, Kathleen; and sons, Daniel and James. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, John (Dawn), Jennifer (John), Stephanie (William), Charlie (Desarae); siblings, Michael (Eliana), Maurice, and Ann; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren that he adored immensely.

     A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, VA 23803. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with Rosary at 11:45 a.m.
