Samuel E. Crenshaw, Jr

September 26, 1946 – July 4, 2022

Mr. Samuel Crenshaw, Jr., affectionately known as “Sam Junior”, of 500 Farmer Street, Apartment 402 (Gillhaven), Petersburg, VA, entered peacefully into eternal rest on July 4, 2022 at his residence. He was born on September 26, 1946 to the late Samuel Crenshaw, Sr. and Rosa Hendricks Crenshaw.

He was a product of the Petersburg School System and retired from the Southside Virginia Training Center with 33 years of faithful and dedicated service.

Sam Junior joined Third Baptist Church on June 16, 2002. He was a member of the men’s ministry, trustee board, sexton, groundskeeper, and Sunday school.

Also, preceding Samuel in death was his one son, Keil Alston; one grandson, Keontae Emon Crenshaw; grandparents, Samuel Crenshaw and Gertrude Moore Crenshaw, Mack and Elizabeth Hendricks; a cousin, friend, and mentor, Reverend Leroy A. Cherry.

Sam Junior leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Kenneth Crenshaw and Kevin Crenshaw (Lakeisha) and one daughter, Kim Crenshaw; one sister, Stephanie Olds; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, a very dedicated friend and brother, Horace Campbell.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, the Rev. Jameson K. McLaughlin, eulogist. The interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery.

The family will assemble 12:00 Noon, the day of the service at his son, Kevin Crenshaw residence, 458 Windham Street, Petersburg, VA.
