July 28, 1956 – June 14, 2023

Sadie Mae Ricks, age 66, of Hopewell, VA departed this life on June 14, 2023. She was born on July 28, 1956, to the late Oisse Blanch, Sr. and Annie Blanch in Amityville, NY.

Sadie, affectionately known as “Rickie”, attended Copiague High School. After graduating, she attended nursing school in Dix Hills, NY. She was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church, Amityville, NY where she sang in the choir.

Sadie was employed with Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center, West Islip, NY for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and relaxing in the pool.

Sadie was preceded in death by her brother, Oisse Blanch, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Albert Ricks and Willie Lee Turner; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Ann.

Sadie leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Wallace Ricks; stepdaughter, Tamika Ricks; grandchildren, Rian, D’jhane, Diondra, Bryce and Amelia; in-laws, Matthew (Jackie), Lynwood Ricks, Sr., Eugene (Gracie), Tim, James, Wendell (Joyce), Diane, Ethel and Fannie; goddaughter, Sakeena Brickers; devoted friends, Eldora Haggerty and Carol Mack; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Pastor Melvin Taylor, eulogist. The interment to follow at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
