December 16, 1945 – March 10, 2023

Mr. Russell Harris, Sr. went peacefully from labor to reward surrounded by his family on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center. Russell was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia on December 16, 1945.

Russell attended Carver High School in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He confessed his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age at Union Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield County, where he served as a dedicated and faithful member of the Trustee Ministry, Senior Usher Board and Male Chorus. Russell was an old country man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working on cars, gardening, and singing. You could always count on him for a good laugh. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.

Russell retired from Honeywell after 30 years of faithful service.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Raymond Goode, Sr. and Annie Goode Surley; birth mother, Margaret Harris; brother, Raymond Goode Jr.; sister, Judy Fells and  his aunt, Alice Seward.

Russell is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Rosetta Wyatt Harris; son, Russell Harris, Jr. (Sibena); daughter, Renee Tabb (James); four grandchildren, Montrell White, Joy Harris, Jalen Tabb and Syniya Harris; and one great-grandchild; Ah’Lonni White. Russell is also survived by his step-sister, Delores Hollins; devoted brother-in-law, Richard Wyatt, Jr. (Katie); devoted sisters-in-law, Verlina Dean (Robert), Austean Whitfield (Milford) and Christabell Goode; nieces, nephews, devoted Dwain Goode; cousins and devoted friends; Charles Ellis, Richard Hollman, the Branch, Whitfield, Jones, and Goode Families, Marvin Baugh, Ellis (Bena) Baugh, Church Road and Amp; Penmar Drive Crew.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Chapel of the J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. William E. Johnson III, eulogist.  Interment to follow in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
