December 24, 1945 – February 15, 2023

Ronald Dowell Nottingham, Sr. was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on December 26, 1945 to Carolise Nottingham. His birth occurred at home in a three-story house on 122 S. Green Street.
Ronald entered the United States Air Force at age 17 in July of 1963. His Air Force assignment, Aerospace Control and Warning, led to various assignments, both overseas and stateside including Labrador, Canada, Alaska, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea.
Ronald’s assignment in Germany was where he and his wife, Ethel accepted Christ in baptism. Ronald’s career in the Air Force ended in retirement in June of 1985 as a Master Sergeant. After retirement, Ron and his wife, Ethel, decided to reside in the Richmond, Virginia area. They have been married for 55 years.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Ethel Nottingham; son, Ronald D. Nottingham, Jr. (Andrea Robertson-Nottingham); daughter, Tamara L. Nottingham; granddaughter, Lashawna Nottingham; sisters, Carolyn Green (Thomas), Christina Boykin, and Regina Lancaster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his mother, Carolise Nottingham Simmons; and his brother, Johnnie E. Simmons.
Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., eulogist. The interment will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 27, 2023 at Virginia Veterans Cemetery.J.M.
