September 16, 1939 – June 10, 2023

Randal L. Buford, affectionately known as “Ronnie” and “Coke”, departed this life on June 10, 2023. He was born September 16, 1939, in Petersburg, VA to the late Clarence and Pearl Buford.

Ronnie was educated in the Petersburg Public School System. He worked at Defense General Supply, Greater Coaster and held many other positions until his health declined. He also became a Merchant Seaman.

Coke was an avid San Francisco 49er’s fan. He loved watching sports, attending family gatherings and Height’s reunions, and talking on the phone with his long-distance family and friends.

Randal was preceded in death by five brothers, Leo Clarence Buford, Jr., Oscar Alexander Buford, Herbert Hoover Buford, Cecil Francelle  Buford, Carl Elmon Buford and Leland Buford; and three sisters, Bernell O. Tyson, Catherine Buford Talley and Barbara Ann Buford; and his step-daughter, Belinda Butcher.

Randall is survived by his loving and dedicated life-partner of 35 years, Theresa Owens; loving and devoted daughters, Tara Owens-Pegram (Matthew) and Portia Owens; one brother, Raymond C. Buford (Deborah); step-sister, Margaret Lewis; grandchildren, Raheem Butcher (Kameshia), Demetria Butcher Dupree, Decarro and Alexis Owens, Rhamil and Zion Ulmer; devoted friends, Dottie Gordan, Lois, Walter, Robert Jr., Pokelee, Scarlette Hunley, Mildred Wheeler and Vincent Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
