Ralph Dean McNew, 65, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. Ralph was born on February 26, 1958, in Germany, to the late Donald Dean McNew and Phoebe Miller, and was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law,  Kevin Bowers.

Ralph started working at Allied Chemical, where he spent many years of his career. He then pursued his passion for roofing and spent about 30 years working in the field. Ralph was a skilled roofer, and his work was admired by many. Currently, he was employed with Parham’s BP in Petersburg, Virginia.

Ralph had many passions and interests. He loved antiquing and thrift shopping and spent countless hours searching for unique and valuable treasures. He also loved going to the beach and spending time with his daughter, Early Daisy McNew, who he cherished more than anything in the world. She was always attached to his hip. Ralph loved music and enjoyed watching sports. He was also a member of the Chalice Community Christian.

He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Maxine Ann McNew; favorite and most cherished daughter, Early Daisy McNew; siblings, David McNew, Donald McNew, Connie Moody and husband, David, Denise Adams and husband, Walter, Lelia Jordan and husband, Jay, Rhonda Bowers; nieces and nephews, Kiley, Breana & Colby McNew, Isabella McNew, Chaisée Miscioscia and husband, John, David Moody and wife, Abigail, Jason Jordan and wife, Vera, John Jordan, Ashley Smith and husband, Scott, Brett & Haley Bowers; great nieces and nephews, Micah McNew, Emerson & Samuel Miscioscia, Jaylen & Jackson Jordan, Riley Stanley; devoted friends, Craig Young, Wynne Churn, Freddie Gray, Kenneth Smith; and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
