January 7, 1944 – July 10, 2023

On Monday, July 10, 2023 our hearts were sadden by the passing of our loved one Queenie Elizabeth Johnson, 79, who departed this life at the Bon Secour Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia. She was born January 7, 1944 to the late Willie and Mattie Crockett of Prince George, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara L. Walker; son, Edward T. Jones, Jr.; grandson, Robert L. Walker, Jr.; brothers, Freddie and Roscoe Crockett; and her sister, Princess Crockett.
Queenie was baptized at an early age and attended Powell Creek Baptist Church, Prince George. She attended J.E.J. Moore High School. She was employed with Central State Hospital until health issues prevented her from performing her assigned task. After leaving Central State she did not cease to be productive. She worked for the Broadway Cafeteria for many years until they closed their doors; the Hopewell School System 10 plus years until her retirement.
Queenie leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband of 38 plus years, Oliver L. Johnson, Jr.; daughter, Mattie L. Crockett; son, Arthur Jones of Hopewell; sister, Viola Crockett (Leroy); brother, Percy Crockett; six grandchildren, Bernita, Lakeisha, Antwon, Tiana, Adrian and Destiny; she raised the first four of her grandchildren and was blessed with five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elder Ruth Holman (Donald), Gladys Hall (James), Cynthia Harris (David), Florence Shackleford, Shella Jones, Marcia Harris, Rosa Johnson, and Alice Johnson; brothers-in-law, Leroy Thomas, Reuben Johnson, Emmett Johnson, and Horace Johnson (Gladys Fay). She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, her Wednesday night bingo buddies, and all other friends and relatives too numerous to name.
We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Chippenham Hospital and at Bon Secour Southside Medical Center, the caring staff, nurses, and physical therapist at the Encompass Health. We thank each of you for the awesome job of caring for our loved one.
