Moses, affectionately known as “Skinny”, attended Chesterfield County Schools and graduated from Carver High School in 1965. While matriculating at Carver, he played basketball. After graduating high school, he began his military journey in 1966. He went on to graduate from Valparaiso Technical Institute, Valparaiso, ID, where he graduated in 1972.
After being honorably discharged from the military, he began his extensive professional journey. This journey led him to several companies to include: Seward Luggage, C&P Telephone Company, Brown & Williamson, IBM and Phillip Morris (Altria) where he retired from in 2003 as an electrical instructor.
Moses was a member of the VIA Heritage Association based on the campus of Virginia State University and the Carver Reunion Group. He was also a past member of the Chosen Few Corvette Club. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan.
He was baptized at an early age and was a devoted member of Union Branch Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA. Moses was a faithful member up until his health began to decline. He was a faithful member of the trustee ministry for numerous years. He went on to become the servant leader of the trustee ministry. He was very dedicated to his duties as a trustee and he kept very meticulous records related to the finances of the church. Moses was also a member of the Men’s Ministry, Pastor Support Ministry and former member of the male choir.
Moses is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Bessie M. Evans. To this union they were blessed with one devoted son, Kevin Evans (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Naomi, Caleb, and Elijah who were the apples of his eye all of Chesterfield. Moses is also survived by two devoted brothers, James Evans, Jr. (Velois), Michael Evans (Margaret) both of Chesterfield, VA. Also left to cherish his memories are two loving sisters, Phyllis Jones (John) and Margaret Mason (James) all of Chesterfield, VA; one god-daughter, Keiarra Brown of Chesterfield and one god-son, Keith Pride of Stony Creek, VA. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Allen Payton; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Tucker (Reynold – deceased) and Ruth M. Pride (George) all of Stony Creek, VA. Moses also leaves two devoted cousins/friends, William “Pop” Brown and Calvin Linwood Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and his beloved Union Branch Baptist Church family.
Services will be held 12:00 Noon, Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Union Branch Baptist Church, 11519 River Road, Chesterfield, VA, the Rev. Dr. Gregory M. Howard, Pastor. The interment to follow at Union Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
