Matthew Christopher Hughes, 48, of Richmond, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Matthew was born in Fayetteville, NC, on April 22, 1975 and was preceded in death by his father, David C. Hughes, Sr. He was a very talented artist and was the comedian of his family. Matthew enjoyed working out, listening to music, wrestling and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his mother, Kathy Hughes; sister, Heather Hughes (Monte Hoover); brother, David C. Hughes, Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Libby Hughes; two nieces, Brittany Via (Josh) and Kirsten Basham; four great-nieces and nephews, Cohen, River, Addison and Kora; and his best friend, Steven Stemple. Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
