April 15, 1949 – April 17, 2023

Mary Harriett Hill Edmonds, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 17, 2023 peacefully at her home.  She was the oldest child of the late Emma H. Moorman and William E. Hill in Blackstone, VA.

 Mary attended the Petersburg Public Schools System.  She later became a member of Oak Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Petersburg, VA, for many years, but later transferred her fellowship to First Baptist Church on Harrison Street in Petersburg, VA.

 Mary was employed at Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC) as an Aide until her retirement.  She was also a Daughter of the Elks; and a former member of Majestic Temple #109 IBPOEOW.

 Mary was preceded in death by one sister, Bessie C. Hardin; one aunt, Nannie B. Feyell; one uncl3e, Johnnie Jones; and a great aunt, Bessie E. Brown.

 Mary leaves to cherish fond memories of her two life-time dearest friends, Cynthia Wigfall-Yates of Henderson, NC and Wanda Helms of Troy, NY; life-time family friend, Phoebe Brown; two god-daughters, Keiana M. Tillman and KeMiya M. Tillman; cousin, Carolyn Banks of Petersburg, VA; and a host of acquaintances throughout her life. A very, very special thank you to Caroline V. Cotledge who displayed compassion as a devoted neighbor and friend who supported, cared and assisted with daily living whenever she needed it.  May God continue to bless, keep and guide you.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Edward L. Fox III, eulogist.
