Marty participated for many years in Special Olympics with the Colonial Heights group. His favorite sport was bowling but he also enjoyed bocce. Marty received numerous medals and ribbons for his achievements. He enjoyed being with people and made many lifelong friends.
Marty was a kid at heart and loved collecting fans and radios, listening to music and singing, blowing bubbles, playing bingo, being on the boat and fishing and watching television, mostly cartoons. Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, Lucy, Full House, the Three Stooges and the Andy Griffith show were among his favorites. His gift was remembering birthdays. He may not have remembered your name but would remember your birthday. In his younger days, you could find him riding his bicycle around his Matoaca neighborhood visiting everyone. Marty never met a stranger.
Marty leaves behind many friends and acquaintances. We would like to extend our love and gratitude to the wonderful team at Winchester Green First Choice Day Program and his friends there as well as his caring case manager, Terrie Martin.
