January 19, 1942 – March 10, 2023

Martha Rebecca Bradley Jackson slipped into eternal rest on March 10, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 19, 1942, to the late Joseph Sr. and Mary Bradley.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Linwood Bradley and Harry Bradley; sister, Catherine B. Perry; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth C. Carter.

Martha was educated in the Hopewell Public School System, graduating from Carter G. Woodson High School in 1959, where she participated on the girls’ basketball team and cheerleader squad. She was employed at Allied Chemical Plant, Defense Supply Center, and retired in 1997 from the DPW Supply Chain at Fort Lee with over 30 years of combined government service.

Martha dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church City Point, Hopewell. There, she served as a youth leader, member of the Senior Ministry, Made To Be Worshipers Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and she sang for many years in the FBC Chorus. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for the city and volunteered at the voting polls, and for Hopewell Social Services. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family, watching NBA basketball games, and doing puzzle books. She had love for everyone and a huge heart; always willing to do and give what she could.

Treasuring Martha’s memories are her devoted husband of 59 years, Benjamin Jackson, Sr.; daughter, Cecilia Satterfield (Pete); son, Rev. Benjamin Jackson, Jr. (Rev. Angie); five grandchildren, Brittany Blount (Dontai), Mikala Jackson, Ashlee Keller (Mekhi), Isaac Satterfield and Briana Jackson; one great-grandson, Dontai Blount, Jr.; her loving and supportive siblings to include one brother, Joseph Bradley, Jr. (Hester) and two sisters, Ethel Robinson (Paul), and Mary Carter; sisters-in-law, Juanita Bradley and Shirley Bradley; several loving nephews and nieces, along with several great nieces and great nephews and a host of loving cousins and special friends.

Services will be held 12 Noon, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at First Baptist Church City Point, 1117 Pierce Street, Hopewell, VA, the Rev. Rudolph Randall, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Benjamin A. Jackson, Jr., eulogist. The interment to follow at First Baptist City Point Cemetery.
