Mr. Mark Leonardo Jones, Sr., affectionately known as “Boo-Boo”, entered this life on August 14, 1959 and transitioned into eternal life on August 14, 2023. Born to the late David J. Jones and Catherine E. Jones of Chesterfield, VA, he was the third of five children. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce A. Jefferson of Chesterfield, VA; and his sister-in-law, Rose A. Walker of Albany, Georgia.
Mr. Jones was educated in the Chesterfield County Public Schools System. He was a dedicated member of Community Independent Methodist Church in Chesterfield, VA, for many years. Employed for 20 years with Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation, Mark could travel all around Chesterfield recounting the numerous parks and projects he built or worked on.
A dedicated father and husband, Mark loved to spend time with his family. Thru his leadership, he bestowed countless lessons upon his family, from money management, craftsmanship, and the importance of doing the right thing. An avid car enthusiast, Mark was known for his love of Chevrolet and drag racing.
Mark leaves to cherish his wonderful memories; his loving wife of 39 years, Deborah L. Jones of Chesterfield, VA; his son, Mark L. Jones, Jr. (Samantha) of Chesterfield, VA; his daughter, Afton C. Robinson (Moses) of Frederick, MD; three grandsons, Mason L. Robinson, Massiah L. Robinson and Mark L. Jones III; a wonderful mother-in-law, Hilda O. Trent; two brothers, Joseph Jones (Rhonda) and Brian Jones; two sisters, Florence Harris and Erica Jones; two dedicated nephews, Davon Harris and Johnny Giles; five loving sisters-in-law, Julia Coleman (Herbert), Jaqueline Harris, Ramona Matthews (Clarence), Pauline Jones (Kenneth), and Patsy Leveille all of Chesterfield, VA; a brother-in-law, Henry Walker of Albany, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, prayers, and support.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Community Independent Methodist Church, 12033 River Road, Chesterfield, VA, the Rev. Pate Pearson, Pastor and eulogist. The interment to follow at The Jones Family Cemetery.
