December 8, 1941 – May 12, 2022
Maclin Clinton Brown, Jr., affectionately called, “Mac Jr.”, who was the eldest of 12 children born to Louetta B. Brown and Maclin C. Brown Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Southside Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Mac was preceded in death by his father, Maclin C. Brown Sr.; mother, Louetta B. Brown; grandmothers, Corine B. Johnson and Annie Blakes; grandfathers, Henry Brown and James Blakes; brother, Larry P. Brown; sisters, Patricia B. Brown, and Cynthia B. Morton; and stepdaughter, Juanita Vaughan Switzer.
Mac served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after his tour of duty and maintained an admiration for all service members. He enjoyed his trips to McGuire VA Medical Center where he would test the resolve of the service providers and share stories with other veterans he befriended over the years.
Mac loved all his family, but his baby sister, Cynthia, who he called, “Baby C”, held a special place in his heart. As the eldest child, Mac took on many responsibilities within the family. As the bible says: “Bear ye one another’s burdens…” Mac was a true example of this in his family! Mac was a caring and fun-loving person who loved playing cards, bingo, dancing, going for walks, and car rides. He was an avid reader and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved reading the Bible and the Progress-Index. He also enjoyed watching the news (CNN) and a good cup of coffee with cream and sugar. He had a mischievous sense of humor! Mac was loved by his neighbors and just about anyone who was fortunate enough to get to know him.
Mac leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Essie Vaughan Brown (Bell); his daughter, Claudia B. Campbell and his son, Derek C. Brown, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brothers, Alfred F. Brown, Donald E. Brown, and Donnie L. Brown; sisters, Matilda M. Brown, Elsie M. Brown, Jean C. Brown, Barbara B.
