March 5, 1941 – July 22, 2023

Lucille W. Stewart, age 82, of Petersburg, VA, departed this life on July 22, 2023, at her residence. She was born on March 5, 1941, to the late Emma and Walter Williams in Dinwiddie County, VA.

Lucille, affectionately known as “NaNa”, attended Southside High School. She was employed with Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company for 15 years. Lucille retired from Fort Lee (now Fort Gregg-Adams) after 30 years of service. She attended Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA.

Lucille had a homemade peanut business. She made peanuts and would often take them to work where she was known as “the peanut lady”. When her coworker’s shift ended, they would wait around for Lucille to show up with her peanuts in a small brown bag.

In her spare time, Lucille enjoyed shopping at Sears, Roebuck CO. and JCPenney. She loved everything about a good sale, often attending yard sales and shopping at Goodwill. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, especially her biscuits which they couldn’t get enough of. She was also famous for her rice pudding, soups, beans, and her homemade cady was to die for. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and Judge Judy on television.
