In the early morning on Monday, May 29, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones, LaTricia Monique Smith entered eternal rest.
LaTricia was born on July 6, 1973, in Peterburg, VA, to Sherman L. Smith and Loretta Smith Harvey. Although LaTricia suffered with sickle cell, she never let it deter her and instead used her obstacles as motivation to reach her goals.
LaTricia attended Petersburg Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1991. She was very driven and believed in elevating herself through education, culminating in her achieving her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Strayer University. She went on to maintain a career with the U.S. Department of Defense in Acquisitions until she retired.
Though LaTricia had many titles and accomplishments, she was most proud of the title of Mom. Her boys were her world, and she would beam with pride at the mention of them.
To know LaTricia was truly to love her. She was a kind and compassionate woman who always had a smile on her face and a laugh that was one of a kind. Just hearing LaTricia laugh would make you laugh.
LaTricia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joe K. and Lucille Beasley; paternal grandparents, Charles and Bertha Smith; two sisters, Latasha M. Smith and LeShaunda Beasley; one brother, Burton Revish; three aunts, Tammy Ellis, Lori Smith, and Kathie Smith; two uncles, Anthony Wayne Smith and William H. Uzzle; and one cousin, Jeremy A. Uzzle.
LaTricia leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, KaRon Derrick Smith and TaVarz Antione Smith both of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Tevin L. Smith; two granddaughters, London Z. Brown and Kameah N. Cordell both of Richmond, VA; her mother, Loretta Harvey (Chris); father, Sherman L. Smith all of Petersburg, VA; two brothers, Merton Revish of Petersburg, VA and Dontay Revish (Anita) Richmond, VA; one sister, Tileana Revish Edmonds of Petersburg, VA; five nephews; two nieces; one great aunt, Maggie Cohen of Darlington, SC; six aunts, Charlotte Hazlewood of Hampton, VA, Terri Smith Seaborn (Donnie) of Chesterfield, VA, Betty Price of Petersburg, VA, Lelia Harrington and Darline Uzzle both of Fayetteville, NC, and a devoted aunt, Mary “Tiny” Stevens of Chesterfield, VA; caring uncle, George Uzzle (Velma) of Hopewell, VA; one step-uncle Lee Beasley (Earnestine) of Petersburg, VA; five step-aunts Verlene Tucker (Horace) of Prince George, VA, Polly Harrison (Edward) of Spring Grove, VA, Valeria Beasley of Waverly, VA, Beverly Beasley and Katonda Harrison both of Petersburg, VA; devoted cousins, Tonika Morton and Ebony Leach; and a host of cousins, co-workers, and lifelong friends.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Kevin M. Northam, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
There will be no public viewing for Ms. Smith.
