March 17, 1954 – August 14, 2023

Mr. Larry Darnell Hill departed this life on August 14, 2023 at his residence.  He was born on March 17, 1954 to Alfred Peter Hill and Dora Shand-Hill. 

Larry went to school in Sussex County.  He went into Job Corps and completed his G.E.D there.  He was a member of St. John Baptist Church as a young man.  He was employed at Charlie Meade Construction in Stony Creek. He later moved on to Richmond, VA, where he worked for ACF Construction.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Peter Hill; mother, Dora Shand-Hill; three brothers, James Ernest Hill, Sam Junior Hill and Melvin Hill, Sr.; two nephews, Timothy Hill and Steven Foster; and his mother-in-law, Edith L. Thomas.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Loretha T. Hill; three daughters, Tammy Bryant (Joshua), LaQuita Hill and Tameika Brown; one son, Melvin Mallory; three stepdaughters, Dishelb Mosely (Sadarius), Davette Jones and Tina Jones; four stepsons, Cordarrell Mallory, Tarvelle Thomas (Tonisha), Devin Thomas and Cartrell Townes; twenty grandchildren that are going to miss him dearly; two sisters, Villa Brown (Weeladdie) and Suzie Morse Robinson; one brother, Charles Hill; a devoted nephew, Terrance Wilson; two devoted family members, Stanley Pegram (Shirley) and Earl Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to say “Thank You” to the Staff of Hospice of Virginia, especially Ashely and Juanita for all the excellent care given to our beloved Larry.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 20, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Herbert Holly II, eulogist. The interment to follow at The Hill Family Cemetery.
