On July 5, 2022, God called our beloved son, brother and uncle, Kevin Christopher Claiborne to his heavenly home. He will be welcomed by his brother, Kenneth Jay and his Grandparents Emuel Powell, Sr. and Notice Powell and Harry and Verlie Claiborne.
Kevin was baptized at an early age at Poplar Mount Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, Virginia, and later moved his membership to the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Petersburg, Virginia.
In 1989, Kevin graduated from Brunswick County High School to attend St. Paul’s College of Lawrenceville, Virginia. It was there he obtained his Bachelor’s degree. From there he went on the Southside Virginia Community College and obtained his Applied Arts Degree in Electricity. He went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University.
Kevin was also a skilled entrepreneur which encompassed a Cleaning Service Business, Electrical Services, and his love of music as a DJ.
He is survived by his parents, Joe Earl and Deloise P. Claiborne; his niece, Ebonee Simone Claiborne; nephew, Kobe Claiborne and sister-in-love, Cindy Claiborne; aunts, Wilma Johnson of Emporia, Virginia, Audrey Brown of Richmond, Virginia, and Lue Ethel Croom-Powell of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; uncles, Emuel Powell, Jr. of Steelton, Pennsylvania, James McCoy Powell of (Gertrude) of Hampton, Virginia, Wilbur Powell of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, George and Tyrone (Donetta) of Richmond, Virginia, JC Claiborne of Baltimore, Maryland, Buford Claiborne of Emporia, Virginia, and Reverend Bobby Claiborne of Prince George, Virginia; devoted friends, Derrick Easter and Benjamin “Butch” Barnwell III; as well as a host of loving cousins and family friends.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., Pastor.
