June 25, 1968 – June 22, 2023

On Thursday June 22, 2023, our hearts were filled with sorrow by the passing of our loved one, Mr. Keith Dillard, Sr., affectionately known as “Baby “D”, who departed this life at home peacefully in Petersburg, VA.

Keith was born June 25, 1968, to the late James Franklin Dillard, Jr. and Joyce Ann Dillard Henderson of Petersburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie Lewis, Sr. and Christine Briggs Lewis; paternal grandparents, James Franklin Dillard, Sr. and Sarah Dillard; special nephews, Terrol Massey of Buffalo, NY and Verrenne Ward; and a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Keith was a graduate of the proud Petersburg High School Crimson Waves class of 1986. After graduating, he served in the United States Marines. After serving his duties as a U.S. marine, Keith gained employment at Hill Phoenix of Colonial Heights, VA until furthering his career at C.J. Logistics in Colonial Heights, VA.

Keith had a great love for action movies, electronics, engineering, having great debates and counseling. His favorite NFL team was the Las Vegas Raiders.

Keith leaves to cherish precious memories: his four children who were his heartbeat, Keith Jr. and Cameron Dillard of Florida, Tashel Freeman of Richmond, VA, and Joseph Freeman (Tiffany) of Norfolk VA; bonus dad, James Henderson; siblings, Recarlos Lewis (late Alease), Elder Gail Dillard Outlaw, Renette Dillard, Evangelist Nora Massey of Buffalo NY, Roderick Dillard (Mavis) of Buffalo NY, Deacon Rico Dillard (Carolyn) , and Tiesha Dillard; nieces, Datria, Tia, Shamera, DeVonna, Clifton, Christina, Tamika, Tijuan, DeVante’, Lex, Shaquita, Launde’ Toya, Excell, and Tiffany; devoted cousin, Veronica Lewis; his closest friends, Timothy Taylor, Joseph Macklin, Jessie Parson, Maurice Taylor, Ashlin Miller (AB); and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Keith’s favorite skills were electrical engineering, artillery weaponry, and debating. He will be deeply missed for the wise counseling he provided to family and friends on a weekly basis. Nevertheless, we rejoice in his victory over death where now his soul can lay to rest in peace forever.  

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., Pastor, officiating, and Elder Gail Outlaw, eulogist.
