Ms. Juanita Johnson departed this life Monday, May 16, 2022, at Bon Secours-Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA.

She was born September 5, 1928, to the proud parents the late Sam and Louise Noran Johnson of Augusta, GA. Ms. Johnson attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Augusta, GA. In 1954, she moved to Philadelphia and married Joseph Johnson. In Philadelphia she worked as a domestic worker for many years. She retired and relocated to Camden, NJ, in the 80’s and later moved to Petersburg, VA, in 1991, with her sisters, Josephine McLean and Betty Davis along with her niece, Joyce McLean.

In Petersburg, she was employed for 10 years as a foster grandparent at Faith and Hope Temple COGIC. Affectionately known as “Big Mama Johnson and Auntie Nita”. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Samuel Johnson, Anna Margaret Johnson, Betty Davis, and Josephine McLean. Left to cherish her memory nephews, Anthony L. McLean of Chesterfield, VA and Benjamin J. McLean (Neomia) of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, Joyce C. McLean of Petersburg, VA and Rosalyn Davis (Kenneth) of Greensboro, NC; host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, other realtives and friends.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.  The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
