Joyce Pulley Holzner, 94, of Colonial Heights passed away Monday, March 7, 2022. She was born in Chesterfield on October 3, 1927 to the late Selma and John Pulley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David Leo Holzner; mother and father-in-law, Hattie and Leo Holzner; sisters, Maxine King and Joan Wilkinson; sisters-in-law, Alice Clarke, Marguerite Emory and Dorothy Bryant; sister-in-law, Connie Holzner; brother-in-law, Robert Holzner; and son-in-law, Edwin V. Sutton. Mrs. Holzner was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and served as an Officer of Elections in Colonial Heights for many years. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a member of the Chat Sews and the Colonial Heights Woman’s Club. She is survived by her children, Patricia H. Sutton and Susan P. Holzner (N. Bane Daniel); grandchildren, SanDee Moore (Mark), Vicki Pope (Jerry) and DusDee Robertson; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Seth and Sydney Moore and Reese and Evan Pope; brothers-in-law, O.C. King and W.B. Wilkinson; numerous nieces and nephews and; devoted caregiver, Suzette Washington. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family received guests at the church beginning at 1 p.m. an hour prior to the service. Interment was private.
