October 19, 1962 – July 4, 2023

Janice Maureen Love of Dinwiddie County, VA, went to meet her Heavenly Father on July 4, 2023. Born in Petersburg, VA on October 19, 1962, Janice was the third child born to Julian Emmanuel Brown and the late Annie M. Brown.

She attended Third Baptist Church as a youth and was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church at a young age. She attended most of her grade school years in the Petersburg School System and graduated from Prince George High School. From there, she attended Virginia State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. She also earned her associate degree from ECPI.

On July 27 ,1985, Janice married the love of her life, the late Rev. Walter C. Love. Together, they established a home in Dinwiddie County, VA and raised two daughters, Jessica and Wendy.

Janice retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in 2018 and was the owner/operator of an event decorating business, Affairs by Design, LLC.

Janice was an immensely talented woman. She could decorate an event, bake a cake, sew a dress, build computers, upholster furniture, and create anything from costumes to stage props to centerpieces with the same effortless ease. Janice volunteered her time, talents and ideas in church ministries where her husband pastored and once helped build a home with Habitat for Humanity.

She loved her family and enjoyed being a wife and mother. Her joy was intensified when she became a grandmother. She supported her grandchildren in all their interests by attending games, practices, recitals, throwing birthday celebrations, ensuring they were fashionable and that they knew their granny loved them. She loved to laugh and to make people laugh, and she was known to bring the party at family events. Attending family events was one of her favorite pastimes and she was known to cut up and have everyone laughing.

Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Walter C. Love; her mother, Annie M. Brown; grandmother, Mildred Jones; and nephew, Julian E. Sharpe.

Remaining to hold her memories are: her father, Julian E. Brown, Jr. of Prince George, VA; daughters, Jessica Parker (Eric) of Chesterfield, VA and Wendy Mweo (Freeman) of Norfolk, VA; beloved siblings, Valerie Brown of Prince George, VA, Joseph Brown of Prince George, VA, and Julian E. Brown III (Thelma) of Midlothian, VA; her grandchildren and lights of her life, Lupupa Mweo, Mwansa Mweo, Ngonga Mweo, Zachary Parker, Nia Parker, Justin Parker, Chansa Mweo, MacKenzie Parker, Mesho Mweo, and Gregory Parker;  her in-laws of 38 years, notably her aunt, Arlene Robertson of Crewe, VA; her wonderful Perkins Road neighbors of Dinwiddie, VA; and a large host of cousins, uncles, aunts, and some very dear friends with whom she spoke daily.

Janice was loved by many and will be missed by all who loved her. She had a caring heart that sought to be sure that others around her felt good and included. She constantly sought to improve herself, her walk with Jesus, her life, as well as the lives of her loved ones. Everything she did, she did well and with a beautiful, personal touch. Janice Maureen Love’s memory will be cherished, and her legacy extended until we meet again on that other shore.
