Mrs. Ida Bell Morgan Lambert, fondly known as “Bea”, 84, of 15423 Keelers Mill Road, DeWitt, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Bon Secours – Southside Medical Center surrounded by family. Born in Dinwiddie County on October 3, 1937 to the late John Henry and Harriet Perkins Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years James Wallace Lambert; her grandson, Brandon Wallace Pettus; three sisters, Geraldine Morgan (Joseph), Mable Blackwell (George), Queen Lacy (Harvey); three brothers, Frank Morgan, Willie Hicks (Katherine) and Evan Bolling (Catherine); in-laws, Franklin Sr. and Alma Lambert Harper; brother-in-law, Franklin Harper, Jr. and two sisters-in-laws, Emily Johnson and Frances Prather.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in DeWitt, VA. Ida worked at Central State Hospital for many years before becoming a housewife and babysitting for family and friends.
She enjoyed fishing, reading, working puzzle books, watching game shows, ice skating and spending time with family especially her grandchildren. She was an avid tennis fan.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two sons, devoted caregiver – James L. Lambert, Sr. and Barry Lambert (Caroline) all of DeWitt and a daughter, Shantell D. Pettus (Bobby) of Chester; six grandchildren, James L. Lambert, Jr. of DeWitt, Ayanna Spruill of Richmond, Adeshia B. Taylor (Antonio) of Petersburg, Robert F. and Jasmyne M. Pettus of Chester and Ashlee S. Lambert of DeWitt; six great-grandchildren, O’Taurus and KeJeria Blyther of Petersburg, ZyKerria M. Lambert-Brown of Richmond, Anthoni Mitchener, Harmony Hildebrandt and Ciya Canfield of Newport News; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Jennings of Dinwiddie and Lou Ellen Harper of Bowling Green; one brother-in-law,; Charles Harper (Jackie) of South Chesterfield; a daughter-in-love Winder Blyther; fur-baby, Ms. Prissey; and a host of nieces and nephews, devoted Kathy Harper-Colyer, George Coleman, and Herman Harper all of DeWitt and Ida Jiggetts of Dinwiddie; an array of cousins, devoted, Victoria Robinson of McKenny; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 16616 Glebe Road, Dewitt, VA, the Rev. Dr. Gerald Brandon, Pastor, eulogist and Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., officiating. The interment will be private.
