Gary Dean Langster, 72, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Born on October 4, 1949, in Petersburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late Garland Wyatt Langster Sr. and Ann Phillips. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Rita Bowe; brothers-in-law, Jack Moore and James Bristow; and Ginny Langster.
Gary served in the United States Navy for four years as a Petty Officer Third Class. He served on the Honor Guard for two years, and also served on the U.S.S Nitro in Vietnam for a year. He was a member of Petersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles #882, and a member of American Legion Post #284 in Colonial Heights. Gary retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools after working for several years.
He is survived by his daughters, Deanna L. Langster and Tammy King, and his siblings, Sharon L. Bristow, G.W. Langster Jr. (Patricia), and Lynn L. Moore.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W Hundred Road Chester, Virginia 23831. The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the funeral home.
