Mr. Floyd Samuel Roney of 1630 Brittwood Dr., Richmond, Virginia departed this life Tuesday morning, July 12, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. He was born May 17, 1942, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia to the late Margaret and Samuel Roney.

Floyd was blessed to have thirteen brothers and sisters, Lawrence Roney, William Roney, Dorothy Jones, Essie Blackwell, Inez Roney, Mary Lee Mason, John Thomas, Fenton Roney, Booker T. Roney, Mildred Pegram, Gloria Byrd, and Philip Roney, who all preceded him in death; and surviving sister, Gloria Byrd.

As a child, Floyd became a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, VA. He attended the Dinwiddie County Public School System, Dinwiddie, VA and graduated from Dinwiddie High School, Dinwiddie, VA where he then went on to attend John Tyler Community College, Chester, VA. Throughout many years, he was dedicated to cooking and catering, which led to him owning his own restaurant, Chatterbox Restaurant & Catering, in Richmond, VA.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Nancy Roney; children, Floyd Roney, Jr., Kevin Roney, Felecia Roney Shazer, Crystal Harris, and Tiffany Roney Holden (Quante Holden); ten grandchildren, Calicia Bowser, Deja Roney, Tamia Shazer, Keandre Harris, Diamond Roney, and Dylashia Roney, to name a few, and one who preceded him in death, Auriel Shazer; one great-grandchild; and a host of uncles, aunts, devoted friends, and extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA.
