January 12, 1948 – July 4, 2023

Mr. Floyd E. Wynn, Jr., age 75, of Richmond, VA, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at McGuire VA Medical Center. He was born January 12, 1948, in Petersburg, VA to the late Floyd E. Wynn, Sr. and Beulah P. Wynn.
Floyd, also known as “Butch, Butchy Boy, and Colomo”, was a graduate of the Peabody High School Class of 1966. After graduating from Peabody, he joined the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic. After his obligations to the U.S. Air Force, he worked at Philip Morris International, where he retired after 15 years of service.
Floyd’s passions included music, health, education, and sports. He was the ultimate sports analyst and was an avid fan of The New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia 76ers and The San Francisco 49ers. In his later years, Floyd became a Historian, focusing on “The Indigenous People of the United States: The “So-Called” Blacks and the Systemic Policy Approach towards Blacks regarding Real Estate and Housing.
Floyd was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Wynn Baxter; brother, William T. Wynn; and his cousins, Timothy Byrd and Gregory Byrd.
Floyd is survived by two daughters, Lolita M. Millner of Houston, TX and Lydia Lee of Richmond, VA; one son, Jordan Lee of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, LaJuan E. Harris of Chesterfield, VA, and Jamie Harris-Thompson of Houston, TX; one sister, Carol Ann Wynn, of Petersburg, VA; two aunts, Shirley P. Byrd of Petersburg, VA and Marion P. Simon of Virginia Beach, VA; one nephew, Jerrold Baxter of DeSoto, TX; four nieces, Beth-El C. Rawlings of Sanford, NC, Sharon Wynn-Johnson and LaShawn D. Wynn both of Greensboro, NC, and Rashieda K. Wynn of Bowie, MD; six great nieces, Jocquelette Rawlings of Sanford, NC, Olivia Gabrielle-Monet Johnson of Greensboro, NC, Alexis Coates, Moriah Coates, Regan Lancaster, and Sebastian Lancaster all of Greensboro, NC; one great-great niece, Akivia Rawlings; and one close friend, Vanessa Lee.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 27, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA. The inurnment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
