July 20, 1941 – April 15, 2023

On April 15, 2023, God sent His angel down to gently take our beloved, Eddie Morris Pulley, affectionately known as “Lil Wheel” and “Papa” home to eternal rest. He was born July 20, 1941, to Fed and Anna Pulley in Dinwiddie County, VA. He received the name nickname, Lil Wheel, because he was the 12th of twelve children.
Eddie attended Southside High School. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, McKenney, VA.
Eddie was last employed with Star Tobacco, Petersburg, VA and was a dedicated worker until his health began to decline. He also was an administrator and provided transportation for many years at Pulley’s Learning Academy and Childcare, Dinwiddie, VA, which is where he earned the nickname, Papa.
Eddie was well known by his family for his annual 4th of July cookouts and his famous homemade “soup”. He enjoyed hunting until his health declined and was a member of the Cherry Hill Hunting Club. After a period of time, he left there and joined Outback Hunting Club to hunt with his brother, Stephen. Eddie was a man of his word. What he said was what he meant, and he wouldn’t change his mind for anything. He loved his cellphone and enjoyed talking with Timothy Walker and Warren Wyatt daily. Don’t touch that phone or you had less than 1 minute to put it down and let him know who was on it! He had to have his phone cleared out daily.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Fed and Anna Pulley; and his siblings, James, Fred, John, Willard, Rochester, Stephen, Acres and Mattie Jones.
Eddie leaves to cherish his loving queen of 31 years, Pearl P. Pulley of the home; daughters, Iris Mays (Clarence) of North Chesterfield, VA, Patricia Goode (Kem) of South Chesterfield, VA, Eldress Tonya Goode-Gilliam (Kim) of Roanoke, VA and Sataina Lightfoot of Petersburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Jasmine Mays, Kendrick Goode, Javanta Lightfoot, Aurora Hanks, Brandon Goode, A’kya Hanks and Jabari Lightfoot-Keene; two great grandchildren, Janaya Mays and Jeremiah Rudd; sisters, Agnes Thorne, Bernice Harvell and Susie Allen; one adopted grandchild, LaDiamond Lucy; three adopted sons, Robert Hanks, Robert Claiborne (Lamont) and Trenton Lee; devoted friend, Warren Wyatt; his one and only beloved 4 legged best friend, his dog Hershey Pulley; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Special Thanks is extended to Sopha Streat, Latoya Land, Lonnessa Beasley and her children, his nurses at Bon Secours ICU, James, Brandee, Florence, and Kenny.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Kingdom Covenant Empowerment Center, 26012 Cox Road, North Dinwiddie, VA, Minister Clarence E. Mays, eulogist, Bishop Ramon Johnson, officiating. The interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
