Eddie C. Williams, Jr

July 25, 1949 – May 16, 2022

Our hearts were saddened by the loss of our beloved, Eddie Cornielus Williams, Jr. on Monday, May 15, 2022.  Eddie was affectionately known as “Buckeye or Buck” to his family and many friends.  He was born to Dorothy L. Williams and the late Eddie C. Williams, Sr. of Petersburg, VA.  Eddie was preceded in death by his loving uncle and aunt, John E. and Louise B. Lockett of Petersburg, VA who raised him from a very young age.  His longtime companion, Barbara A. Seay also preceded him in death.

Eddie was educated in the Petersburg and Prince George Public School Systems where he was an All-American Athlete in football and basketball. Eddie found a love for playing tennis and enjoyed biking up until his decline in health.

Eddie had a strong desire to see people doing their best and believed in helping family, friends, even people on his job elevate their minds. He was a great mentor to those he came in contact with.  All who knew Eddie, knew of his love for all music especially Jazz. He was an avid reader of biographies and kept abreast of political science issues as he often analyzed and spoke on our current state of governing.  Eddie found peace in doing yardwork and keeping up with his rambunctious grandson Hampton.

Eddie was a proud United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam and retiring after 20 years of active and reserve duty.  He was employed at Ft. Lee Army Base and went on to work at Hunter Holmes McGuire Hospital where he retired as a master plumber and pipe fitter.  Eddie served as Vice President and Section Chairman for the Transport Worker Union 527 while working at Ft. Lee.

Eddie leaves to cherish his memory: his one and only devoted daughter, Tamisha V. Williams and grandson, Hampton Nasir Williams both of South Chesterfield, VA; his mother Dorothy L. Williams of Petersburg, VA; ten sisters, Bessie E. Coleman of Richmond, VA, Carleah Williams Muhammad, Carolyn Williams, Bridgette Williams and  Doris Harris all of Petersburg, VA, Deborah Chamberlain of Prince George, VA, Norma Williams of Chesapeake, VA, Yvette Harris of Colonial Heights, VA, Stephanie Williams of Chesterfield, VA, and Natalie Harris of Henrico, VA; six brothers, Thomas Williams (Darlene) of Dinwiddie, VA, David Williams, Sr. (Brenda) of Riverdale, GA, Kirby Williams (Wanda), Rondell Penn (Martha) and Ricky Williams all of Petersburg, VA, and Kenny Harris (Monica) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and one aunt, Mattie Archer of Petersburg, VA. Eddie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including his former wife, Elaine M. Williams of Chester, VA.

Special acknowledgement to his great aunt, Canzata B. Turner, cousin, Bernice Griffin, cousin and mentee Keith Brooks all of Petersburg, VA, nephew, Marcellus Jones of Yokosuka, Japan, and sister, Doris Harris for her devoted care during his illness.

Eddie was loved by all who knew him and his memory will be forever etched in our minds and engraved in our hearts.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 23, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church Community Life Center, 444 Halifax Street, Petersburg, VA. The interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
