Doris Jackson Thompson, 83, of South Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 12, 2023. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, on March 27, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Julius Manfield Jackson and Ruth Ann Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Claiborne Julius Jackson, Cathrine Jackson Eve, James Jackson, Frances Jackson Bell, Ann Jackson Wade, Robert “Hardrock” Jackson, Emily Jackson White, and David Jackson; and beloved niece, Linda Bell.

Doris retired from Allied Chemical/Honeywell after 36 years as a machine operator. She was a member of Chesterfield Community Church, where she attended for many years. She loved to fish, bake cakes, crochet, and listen to her favorite, Elvis Presley. Doris loved being with her grandkids, and spending time with her siblings.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Allen Thompson, Sr.; two sons, James Allen Thompson, Jr. and wife, Wendy, and Jonathan W. Thompson; grandson, Matthew Thompson; granddaughter, Hannah Thompson; brother, Raymond “Sonny” Jackson; sister, Sue Jackson Greene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Chesterfield Community Church, 7110 Woodpecker Road S. Chesterfield, Virginia. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
