April 17, 1939 – March 25, 2023

Mrs. Daisy Roberta Wyche Smith, age 83, affectionately known as “Daisy Mae” was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at her residence.  Daisy Mae was born on April 17, 1939, to the late Lou Ellen Wyche Fisher, and through marriage became the daughter of the late John Lee Fisher. She was raised by her uncle and aunt the late Theodore and Lorine Wyche. She was the oldest of her siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith.

Daisy Mae accepted Christ at an early age, and later joined the Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, Virginia, where she attended faithfully until her health declined.

Daisy attended Dinwiddie County Public Schools. She retired from the Food Service Department at SVTC/Central State Hospital where she worked for over 30 years. She also retired from the Food Service at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. She was a hard and dedicated worker, and a stylish dresser.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted children, Lisa Coleman (Sylvester) and Morris Tyrone Wyche, Sr; grandchildren Shameka Taylor (Kodie); Kenneth Cudjoe, Jr. (Ashley); Jonathan Williams, Morris Wyche, Jr.; great-grandchildren, KaNeisha, Kodie Jr., Jairra, TayQuan, Destiny, Jeremiah, and Kynedi; sisters, Sandra Fisher, Dr. Wanda Wallace-Tucker (Charles); Fain Washington (George); Alfredia Robinson, Helen Bradford, and Mary Booker; brothers, Robert Bolling, John J. Fisher (Yolanda), Samuel Wyche, Theodore Wyche, and Garland Wyche; an adopted son, John White (Cherel); a devoted friend, Lamora “Sweetie Pie” Dean; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr.  Wesley K. McLaughlin, Pastor,  Rev. Dr. Wanda Wallace-Tucker, eulogist, and  Rev. Dr. Alvin G. Gurley, officiating. The interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
