Clarence “Jack” Anderson King, 88, was raised in Hopewell, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022. He served in the Army after his brother gave up his life for his country in the Korean War. He was an engineer at Allied Chemical. He volunteered at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell since retirement. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janie Rowland King, they were married for 66 years; grandparents, John A. King and Kate Irene Mise King; parents, Thomas Baptist King and Myrtis Moore Tanner King; 4 sisters and 3 brothers including, Thomas William King who was killed in the Korean War in 1952. He is survived by one sister, Myrtis K Josey; aunt, Betty Wernice King Robertson; brothers-in-law, Claude Calvin Rowland, Burkley Gene Rowland (Mitzi); and Joseph Elson Rowland (Gale); as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Hopewell, Virginia. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Merchants Hope Church, 11500 Merchants Hope Rd, Hopewell, VA 23860 with Pastor Shane Brinson officiating.
