October 2, 1932 – March 25, 2023

God in His infinite wisdom looked down on His child “Callie”, and said, “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant, it’s time to come home and rest.”  On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Caldonia Marion Lee Young, peacefully went home to be with the Lord and she was ready. No suffering, no pain just a peaceful transition from her earthly home to her heavenly home.

Callie was born October 2, 1932, to Sadie E. C. Lee and Charles C. Lee in Petersburg, VA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Young, Sr.; daughter, Patricia Young; sons, Arnold E. Young, Robert E. Young, Jr., Donald M. Richardson, Milton H. Richardson; her parents; sisters, her brothers, Cornelius C. Perry, Charles C. Lee, and George Lee.

Callie was a member of First Baptist Church Harrison Street for 80 years. While at First Baptist Church she served on the ushers ministry, the Clothes Closet, and Monday Night Bible Study.

She was employed at Central State Hospital for over 30 years as a psychiatric aide.  Callie was truly an “Unsung Hero”. Callie was a friend and mother to everyone. Everyone was family to her.  She would do anything she could for anyone and sometimes neglecting her desires to do things for her family and friends.

Callie is survived by her devoted children, Rev. Neal C. Young, Sherwood W. Young (Velma), Jerry Fields, and Keith Diamond; daughters, Cheryl Y. Douglass (Robert) and Jeanita Harris; grandchildren, Shawn Ferguson, Ariyonna Smith, Carlos R. Young, Rashod Young, Montaye Young, Erika Y. Hill, Brent Young, Donald Richardson, Angela Williams, Michelle Wilson, Yvette Stevens, Coria Harris, Milton Richardson, Jr., Lashanna Raines, James Tall, Varnell Tall, and Derickson Tall; brother, Johnathan W. Lee; sister-in-law, Sarah Lee; cousin, Marion Moore; godson, Olonzo Stith; devoted nieces, Joyce B. Black, Cheryl C. Batts, Belinda Dyson, Juanita Goodwyn and Denise Price; adopted sons, Henry “Hank” Branch and David Woodley; devoted friends, Kitty Burnette, Berthell Graham, Mattie Archer, Elenora Meade, and  Ethel H. Avery; devoted friend and caregivers, Sheryl Epps, Sallie Day, and The Staff of Colonial Heights Rehab and Convalescent Center (Madison Unit); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Neal C. Young, eulogist.  The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
