June 23, 1926 – February 8, 2023

Bernice Bouldin Todd Taylor transitioned to her new home on Wednesday, February 9, 2023 at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. She was the seventh child born on June 23, 1926 to the late Ernest and Louversia Williams Bouldin.

Along with her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by eight brothers, Tom, Elmer, Bert, Oakley, Jim, John, Howard and Arthur; three sisters, Beatrice, Virginia and Mary who all await her arrival at the gates.

Bernice was baptized in the James River and became a member of the Powell’s Creek Baptist Church, Prince George, VA. She later became a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA. She served in many roles as a faithful servant. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as Chair of the church Missionary Board and participated in the Noon Day Prayer Circle. She was grateful for her God-given gifts and used them to show the goodness of God.

Bernice was also an avid traveler and loved to volunteer in and around the Tri-Cities area.

After a long life of love, laughter and a few tears, Bernice is survived by three daughters, Elnora Washington (Pete), JoAnn Moore and Audrey Bracey; one son, Daniel Todd (Belinda); one sister, Louversia Harrison; thirteen devoted grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren who all called her “Granny”. Her Umbrella of love covered many whom she cared for as her own to include, Corey Bates, Deborah Bullock, and Elecktra Hamzat; nieces, Tiana Harrison and Louversia Jackson; The Bouldin, Todd, Williams, Bland, Massenburg, Pegram, Haynes, Moore, Graves, Washington and Blowe families who were all special to her; and scores of caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were woven into her life story.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, Pastor, and Rev. Alton Haynes, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
