Bernard Mosby of Petersburg, VA, passed away early Friday morning, June 16, 2023, at Petersburg Health Care Center, Petersburg, VA. He was affectionately called, “Blackjack” by his close friends and family.
Bernard was a 1965 graduate of Chesterfield County Public Schools. He enjoyed working and whatever was needed or needed to be done you could count on him to lend a helping hand. Bernard was that kind of person.
He was preceded in death by his father, Waverly T. Booker; brothers, Otis R. and Walter R. Booker; sister, Dorien L. Booker; maternal grandparents, Sam and Mildred; paternal grandparents, Joe and Alice Booker; and his nephew, Shawndell Campbell.
Bernard leaves to cherish precious memories: his sons, Ryan Williams and Bernard Harris (Jeanett) and two daughters, Cheryl Williams-Jones (Kim) and Darlene Bates (Clint) all of Petersburg, VA; grandchildren, Dichell (Tony), Diesha, Trevon, Ryan Jr., Raven, Waltesha, and Tiana; nine great grandchildren; his loving and caring mother, Carrie Booker of Petersburg; one sister who was always there for him and stayed by his side whenever time permitted, Vanessa Walker (Percy); two brothers, Waverly Booker, Jr. (Bridget) and Daryll Booker (Ellen); three sisters-in-law, Betsy Booker of Oklahoma, Ellen Booker of Petersburg, and Ethel Booker of Dinwiddie; five aunts, Ruth Coleman, Novella Jones (James), Linda Lewis (Rick), Mable Lewis (Lynn), and Bobbie Lewis; uncles, Dennis Mosby and Thomas Mosby, Jr. (Lisa); several nieces and nephews who loved him; numerous cousins and many-many wonderful caring friends among them devoted friends, William Mayfield, Mathew Moore, Gail Sprouse, Letitia Green, Russell Mason, Keith Smith, Altoria Harris, and Shelverden Smith.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 26, 2023, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Evangelist Eliza Bailey, eulogist. The interment to follow at The Lewis Family Cemetery.
