Mr. Anderson Davis, Jr., RET. Army, affectionally called “June” transitioned from this life to glory on Friday, April 8, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 22, 1934 at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ to the late William Anderson and Elizabeth Davis.
Anderson had a close relationship with his family and grew up in Glassboro, NJ. He was affectionally known as “June”, Big June or Serg. One of his favorite sayings was ” You can take that to the bank”. June was avid deep sea fisherman. He enjoyed catching spots and croakers, playing cards, (Bid Wiz) and listening to jazz music. He was also, a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan.
June attended Glassboro Public Schools and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1956. June served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before being Honorably discharged after 21 years. He excelled at electronic technology and was skilled at television and radio repair. After leaving the service he worked for Green’s TV service as a technician and National Bank as an Armed Security Guard.
In 1958 June went to Seoul, Korea and married the love of his life Poo Soon (Cookie). He was blessed to enjoy this union for 64 years.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Moses, David, Daniel Davis and sisters, Mary, Ferrer, Yvonne Figueroa, and Leolla Atkins.
June leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife Cookie; one son, Gordon “Lenny” Bell and daughter-in-law, Sharon “Kim”; two grandsons, Christopher and Joshua; great granddaughter, Dakota; one sister, Livesta Drummond and a host of other family and friends that loved him dearly.
Service of Love and Remembrance will be held 10 A. M., Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Chapel of bland Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg, VA., 23803.
