Ms. Alice May Edwards Heath Jones

May 12, 1931 – July 11, 2022

Our beloved mother, Ms. Alice May Edwards Heath Jones, 91, of Petersburg, VA, was called home to glory on the morning of Monday, July 11, 2022, into the arms of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She resided at August of Richmond Healthcare in Henrico County, VA.
 
Alice was born in Prince George County, VA to Harvey Edwards and Elizabeth (Hill) Edwards on May 12, 1931. She attended Union Branch School in Prince George, VA and went on to earn her GED. Alice worked many jobs in the Healthcare Field to include: Nursing and Housekeeping Services at Petersburg General Hospital, a Nursing Assistant at many of the Convalescent Centers in the Petersburg and Tri-Cities area, and as a Private Duty Nursing Assistant. 
 
Alice enjoyed cooking for her children, other family, and friends. She loved to go fishing, shop, decorate her home, and dress very nice with matching jewelry. She enjoyed helping people and loved to see them smile. She held volunteer positions as a Cafeteria Aide and School Watch Program Member in the Petersburg Public School System. She had a big heart and loving spirit.
 
As a faithful and longtime member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church of Petersburg, VA, Alice was very active in serving for more than 20 years on the Usher’s Ministry. She had a very strong faith and love for Our Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed listening to and singing spirituals. 
 
Alice was preceded in death by her first husband, Alexander Heath, Sr. and second husband, George Jones; parents, Harvey and Elizabeth Edwards; one brother, Frank Edwards; four sisters, Doris Edwards, Marjorie Edwards, Pearl Thweatt, and Sophronia Williams; son, Alexander Heath Jr.; and daughter, Rose Heath Bell.
 
Alice is survived by her children, Farrell Heath (Carleen) of Petersburg, VA, Norman Heath of Petersburg, VA, Fonda Neal (John) of Henrico, VA, Yvette White (James) of Columbus, GA, and a host of grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Debbie Edmonson (Steve) of Prince George, VA, who Alice was blessed to provide Home Nursing Care Services to and whom she adored and considered to be not just an employer but a loving, devoted friend.
 
A Homegoing Service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, July 18, 2022 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, VA, Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, Pastor, Rev. Jameson McLaughlin, officiating, and Dr. Andrew J. White, Sr., eulogizing. Burial will follow at Union Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 4200 Red Gate Dr., Prince George, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 12pm – 6pm at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA, with virtual viewing from 12pm – 4pm.
