This week, the Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to solve a shooting.

On July 4, 2013, the Chesterfield County community was stunned and saddened by the loss of 7-year-old Brendon Mackey. Brendon and his father were attending the annual fireworks display at Swift Creek Reservoir when Brendon was struck by a bullet while walking in front of the Boathouse Restaurant. Police believe the bullet that struck Brendon was fired randomly into the air. Since this tragic event, Brendon’s Law was enacted making the act of celebratory gunfire resulting in injury a felony.
