July 14, 1942 – February 22, 2023

Mr. Otis Hazelwood, Jr. of Petersburg, VA, departed this life peacefully at home on February 22, 2023. He was born July 13, 1942 to the late Annie Jones Hazelwood and Otis Hazelwood, Sr.

Otis attended Peabody High School. He also served in the United States Army. Thereafter, he became employed with Honeywell where he worked for 20 plus years until he retired.

Otis was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved fishing, sports and watching westers. His family often referred to him as “Uncle O” and his friends, “Roscoe”.

Otis was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Putney and Pauline Hazelwood; brother, Jerome Hazelwood; and two nephews, Anthony Hazelwood and Warren Walker.

Otis is survived by two stepchildren, Rovenia Williams and Sheneka Drew both of Hopewell, VA; ex-wife, Sherry Williams Hazelwood; grandson, Troy Clanton, Jr.; two great grandchildren; three nieces, Gloria Savoy (Randy) of Richmond, VA, Sonya Hazelwood (devoted) of Petersburg, VA and Kimberly Walker (devoted) of Chesterfield, VA; nephews, Carlen Walker, Sr. (Karen) and Ronald Walker (Kimberly) both of Chesterfield, VA and Michael Walker of Petersburg, VA; great nieces, Kidada Saunders, Aikira Hazelwood, Labrae Hazelwood, Takira and J’yana Saunders both of Richmond, VA, Courtney Walker, Romedis Walker and Kayla Hazelwood; great nephews, Carlen Walker II, Devin, Campbell and Khalil Hazelwood; great-great nieces who he adored, Skylar and Summer Watkins and Nahsir Hazelwood; close friend, Herman Robinson; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Herbert Holly II, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
