May 4, 1959 – April 2, 2023

Revelations 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes…There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Mr. Oscar Jones, Jr. was born May 4, 1959, the oldest of seven children born to the late Oscar Jones, Sr. and Augustine Jones. Oscar was affectionately known by the nickname “Skeet”. He was educated in the Petersburg Public Schools.
Oscar was a man with countless talents. He worked for Ramada Inn, Professional Maintenance Cleaning Services, he taught karate classes at AP Hill Community Center, and he did handyman services for people in the community.
Oscar was known for being the originator of many sayings during conversations: “Fragments” he referred to as money. “Chickens” was a term he associated to woman. Skeet was often called King Cobra by his friends because of his martial arts skills.
During family gatherings, Oscar would always manage to leave without being noticed. By the time you realized he was gone, he was nowhere to be found. In his later years, Oscar just enjoyed hanging out in the Heights and spending time with his grand kids and daughter every chance he could. His daughter Toya was always there for him no matter what. Their father-daughter bond is everlasting.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Jones, Sr. and mother, Augustine Jones; brothers, Gregory Jones, Ricky Jones, Sr., Larry Jones, and his sister, Paula Jones.
Oscar leaves to cherish his two children, Oscar Jones III and Toya Taylor (mother Rosetta Taylor) who he loved dearly; three grandchildren, Anthony Simms, Jr. (AJ), Lamoni Jordan, and Prince Bradby; brothers, Paul Jones (Phyllis) of Murrieta, California, and Timothy Jones (Consuela) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; niece and nephews Crystal, and Rickey Tucker, Jr., Daris Stevenson, Selina Johnson, Tevin and Tiffinie Edmonds, LaShana and LaShemia Jones, Paul Jr., and Dannesha Jones, and Devonte Jones; three aunts, Paulette Jackson, Elva Washington (Lee), and Emma Turner; devoted friends, and the rest of his North Carolina Avenue-Delectable Heights friends.
