April 24, 1936 – June 19, 2023

Elder Kinzo Otto Devontenno affectionately, known to everyone as “Kinzo”, departed this life suddenly on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia. Kenzo was a very kind hearted lovable person. Kinzo was born in West Virginia, to the late Mary and Kinzo O. Devontenno, Sr. and later, moved to Petersburg Virginia.
He was the pastor of New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ for many years in McKenney, Virginia, he later joined, Faith and Hope Temple Church of God In Christ, which is where he worshiped until the day of his passing.
Kinzo was preceded in death, by his mother and father, Mary and Kinzo O. Devontenno, Sr; wife, Barbara H. Devontenno; daughter, Barbara A. Campbell; sons, Kinzo “Ducky” Devontenno, and Cortez Devontenno; sisters, Mary Alice Stewart, Esther Crawford, Mabel Devontenno, Sophie Devontenno, Irene Devontenno, and Francis Devontenno; brothers, Frank Devontenno, and Wade Devontenno; and a devoted aunt, Bertha Mays.
Kinzo leaves to cherish his fond and precious memories to: his children, Gail Crenshaw, and Michael Devontenno; grandchildren, two devoted Maria Bullock, Helen Spratley, Sherree Devontenno, Veronica Crenshaw, James Junior Juan Crenshaw, Michael Ridges, and Anthony, Devontenno; great grandchildren, Dymond Smith, Delquise Branch, Olajuwon Branch, Tenasia Walker, Tyasia Thomas, Jamiyah Jackson, and Corey Crenshaw; nieces, and nephews, Vickie, Harrison-Williams (Charles), Mark Stewart (Tameka), Juan Stewart (Kecia), Frank Devontenno, Jr. (Nicole), Coryl Devontenno, Anthony, Devontenno, Nicole Sackey, Wade Devontenno, Jr., Tonya Devontenno (deceased) and Pam Devontenno, and Alese Collins; along with several other family members and friends too numerous to name. I want to apologize to anyone who wasn’t mentioned charge it to my head and not my heart.
Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Faith and Hope Temple Church of God in Christ, 1800 E. Washington Street, Petersburg, VA, Bishop Herman Crockett, Jr., Pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
