James Allan Potts, 96, of Colonial Heights passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Born March 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Thomas Hamling and Lena Gay Potts and was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Katie May Potts.

He was proud to be a United States Navy veteran, having served on the U.S.S. Mississippi and worked for Titmus Optical for over 50 years before retiring.

He is survived by his sister, Pearl P. McGill; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your local SPCA.
