Ms. Catherine Tyler, affectionately known as “Cooley”, to her family departed this life on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her residence in Hopewell. Catherine was born on July 29, 1950 in Prince George, VA.
Catherine was employed and retired from Richmond Plastic in Chester, VA. She was also employed at American Family Fitness in Colonial Heights, VA. Her bright smile, positive attitude and strong presence will be missed by her family and friends in the community.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, spades, oldies but goodies music, family gatherings, casinos and most of all bingo.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Aline Tyler; daughter, Cecilia “Gail” Sinclair; grandson, Tre’mere Davis; brother, Thomas L. Tyler; sister, Barbara Tyler; sons-in-law, Rudolph Clark, Jr. and Terrence Williams; and her nephew/god-son, Thomas A. “Tony” Tyler.
Catherine leaves to cherish her loving memories to her daughters, Darlene Tyler of Hopewell, VA, Cheryl Tyler Clark of Richmond, Cynthia Tyler Atkins (Roger) of Maryland and Lovine Williams of Tennessee; grandchildren, Candice Tyler, Cornell, Tyler, Consuela Tyler and Caprease Tyler, Andre Mason, Jr., Barron Darby, Jr., Brittney Atkins, Jessica Hobson, Kierra Priest and Darius Priest; great grandchildren, Caleb Jackson, Nevaeh Watts, Stormie Priest, Ryder Priest, Calayjah McFadden, Camarion Williams, Cynseer Jones, Carma Moore, Camora Moore, Camille Moore, Jerimiah Gholston, Leondria Gholston, Kyra Gholston, Khepri Gholson, Azari Davis, Cajhmere Davis, Khayr Davis El-Bey and Akeem “AJ” Palmer; siblings, Bessie Hoskins of Calvert County, Maryland, Archard Tyler (Ida) of Chester, VA and Aline Tyler of Takoma Park, MD; step-brother, Hampton Blanding, Jr.; aunt, Lucy Mae Tyler; uncle, Jacob Tyler; sisters-in-law, Rosalyn Tyler and Bessie C. Tyler (special); nieces, Jenelle Tyler, Dionne Lane and Tiara Taylor; nephews/god-sons, Bennie “Junior” Young, Timothy “Small” Tyler and Donald “Bug” Pitt; step-nephew, Orlandra “Landy” Taylor ; god-daughters, Eva Hunt-Fenceroy and Ka’Myia Young; special extended family and friends, Diane Pope, Stanley Warren, Clarice Morse, Helen Taylor, Shirley Ann Allen, Caldwell “CD” Davis, the Allen Family and Pitt Family; family spiritual advisor, Rev. A precious one of us is gone, a voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our hearts that can nevermore be filled.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Deacon David Donald, eulogist. The interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
